Bargeboards - Bargeboards (also known as vergeboards, fly rafters, gable rafters, gableboards, barge rafters) are timbers that are fitted onto gable ends (the triangular part between the top of the walls to the top of a pitch roof) to strengthen as well as mask timbers and purlins of the roof. Bargeboards are usually moulded or carved. As well as masking and strengthening the gable end they can also add style and elegance.
